Frank Beamer I applaud you!

With a week of watching college football I was sorta shocked with what happened just before the VT game against Michigan in the Sugar Bowl. Frank Beamer had a tough choice to make about his kicker Tyler Weiss. You see, Tyler decided to miss curfew while down in New Orleans. Sure, many of us would want to stay out and party in New Orleans, but also a lot of us would also want to play in the Sugar Bowl. So, Tyler stays out late knowing that he is really the only field goal kicker with experience on team, and probably felt he would not be disciplined. Well, Frank Beamer had other ideas. Beamer sent Weiss back home to Blacksburg on a Grey Hound Bus that took about 26 hours from point A to point B. This decision turned out to cost the Hokies the win in the Sugar Bowl, but still the Hokies did take home $17 million dollars (http://www.collegefootballpoll.com/bowl_games_bowl_schedule.html). Frank Beamer did what many coaches would not do, he took action before a big game. For this I applaud Coach Beamer. In the landscape of College football we need more coaches like this. He stand up for his values and demands the best from his players. Earlier this year Coach Beamer, his staff, and players visited the burial site of the 1970 plane crash that killed 75 people aboard a plane coming back from a game against ECU. The reason that VT visited the grave site was because a gentleman by the name of Frank Loria who was a coach at Marshall during the crash also played with Frank Beamer at VT. There are not many coaches left in College football like Frank Beamer and that is just a shame.
